Karuizawa 1983 Nepal Appeal Charity Bottle No.2
All proceeds from the sale of this lot will be donated to Nepalese charities working to provide aid in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that took place in the country earlier in 2015.
This is a special charity bottling of Karuizawa 1983, which was created specially for attendees of the Nepal Appeal Karuizawa Masterclass, which took place on 3 October 2015 at The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show 2015.
The 45 attendees of the class tried five incredibly rare Karuizawa bottlings, including the 1983 cask #3557, and all received a full bottle of the whisky to take home. Tickets to the class were oversubscribed and were sold through a ballot for £6,000 each.
Each bottle is engraved with a cherry-blossom design, picked out in gold, and each was hand-labelled and uniquely numbered. Only 50 were made.
This is bottle number 2.

This bottle is from the collection of Bill Pigati, whose family have owned Del Rio, a famous restaurant near Chicago, since the 1920s. The majority of the bottles in the collection were purchased in the 1940s and early 1950s, and it is mainly comprised of blended scotch whiskies, which were very popular during the period.
Some of these gems are from the famous big names we all recognise, however there are many amazing brands with beautiful labels that we know very little about which are much sought after by collectors around the world.
