November 2025 Whisky & Spirits Auction Results

There were vintage options for lovers of all spirits in our November auction with long-aged whiskies, early 20th century rums and cognacs, and an eclectic selection of vintage liqueurs. Here are a selection of the highlights.

*Aftersales Update*

A number of bottles found their way to new owners following our aftersales process, with perhaps the most notable among them being this Macallan 1997 14 Year Old, the 2011 release from the Easter Elchies Cask Selection series. This was sold for £2,500.

In blended whiskies this Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet in its very own stylish puffer jacket, that becomes a cross-body accessory once the bottle is removed, received an offer of £150.

Outside of whiskies, there were a few spirits picking up agreeable offers for their sellers. Firstly, this beautifully decorated ceramic bottle of Clase Azul Dia De Muertos Anejo Tequila, bottled in 2022 as the ‘Colores’ limited edition and one of 6500 decanters, received a winning offer of £1,500. Among vintage spirits, this Croizet 1914 Grande Reserve Cognac sold for £400

Single Malt Scotch

There was representation across the regions among the top lots with Highland, Lowland, Campbeltown and Speyside whiskies all featuring, as well as some outstanding Japanese malts.

Top spot went to a beautifully presented bottle of Loch Lomond 1967 54 Year Old, not a distillery we are used to seeing at the top of the page in auctions but fitting on a night of unexpected Scottish table topping (gratuitous football reference). One of only 55 bottles produced, this sold for £14,200.

Campbeltown’s representation came in the shape of this enticingly dark Springbank 1966 Local Barley Cask #443. A now legendary vintage among collectors, this bottle unsurprisingly attracted plenty of attention and ended the evening on a hammer price of £6,200.

From Japan, the top lot was this Hanyu 1991 Two of Diamonds from the highly collectable Ichiro’s Malt Card Series. One of only 289 bottles released, this sold for £4,100. Following closely behind was a bottle of Karuizawa 1980 32 Year Old Noh Cask #7614, even more scarce with a bottling run of only 102 bottles, this fetched £3,500.

Macallan

Perennial auction favourite Macallan took up considerable space amongst the top lots in this month’s auction and there were some excellent bottles on offer. This Macallan 40 Year Old, part of The Red Collection, sold for £13,400. There were two of the Handwritten Label bottlings, this 1950 that fetched £6,000, and a 1938, which despite its rather tattered appearance, took a winning bid of £3,800.

There were Gran Reserva bottlings from 1979, 1980 and 1981 that fetched £2900-£3000 each and among the ever popular 25 Year Old Anniversary Malts, this 1967 vintage sold for £3,800 while a 1974 Anniversary Malt fetched £2,600.

A pair of Macallan 1959 Campbell, Hope & King bottles sold for £1,800 and £1,900 a piece and a 1962 Campbell, Hope & King received a winning bid of £1,450.

Indie Bottlers

There are always gems to be found among the independent bottlings at auction and this month was no exception with some truly special bottles.

From the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, this bottle of 25.4, a Rosebank 1978, put in an auction record equalling performance with a hammer price of £4,300. An early society release of a closed (until recently) distillery, bottled at cask strength and unusually labelled for the Italian market meant it had plenty of collectability points.

Speaking of uniqueness, this lot containing a full set of Antica Casa Marchesi Spinola Collection No.1 imported by Sestante for the Italian market, was a rare chance to pick up some stunning bottles in a single lot. Containing 60s and 70s vintage malts from the likes of Port Ellen, Longmorn and Tomatin, this was snapped up for £4,200.

From Gordon & MacPhail, a few lots worth a mention include this Linkwood 1971 50 Year Old from The Private Collection, beautifully presented and sold for £2,300, and a pair of Connoisseurs Choice bottlings bottled in the 1980s, this Port Ellen 1970 17 Year Old (£700) and Ardbeg 1967 16 Year Old (£625).

Finally, a few Cadenhead’s ‘Dumpy’ bottles saw plenty of attention with a Highland Park 1957 23 Year Old selling for £2,100 and a Linkwood-Glenlivet 1956 21 Year Old fetching £800.

Roundup

There was too much to choose from for auction highlights this month, but a few more bottles deserving a mention include this bottle of Fine Scotch Whisky (£825). We love an old bottle at Whisky.Auction and it’s always interesting to get our hands on bottles as old as this, dating from the 1890s to early 1900s and in pretty good condition considering its age. This had been handed down through generations of a family and was originally bought from the wine merchant who bottled the whisky in their home town.

We’ve mentioned plenty of old spirits and liqueurs in recent months, so this time a spotlight on vintage vermouth which is also seeing some impressive prices with the resurgence in popularity of vintage cocktails. This 1960s bottle of Gran Torino Vermouth sold for £230 and bottles of Carpano and Cinzano Antica Formula dating from the 1960s through to the 1980s fetched between £85-£160.

Finally, there was fierce competition for a bottle of Guyana 1974 Demerara Rum. A 30 year old rum, bottled from a single cask that created only 96 bottles, this was possibly the most contested bottle at the closing of the auction and jumped massively in price before ending on a bid of £2,800.
