July 2026 Whisky & Spirits Auction Results

Our July auction was full of quality and intrigue from across the world of spirits with no shortage of enticing bottles to bid on. Read on for just a few of the highlights from our July Whisky & Spirits auction.

*Aftersales Update*

A successful aftersales saw some welcome additions to our top lots in the auction with two bottles squeezing their way into the top three lots.

Firstly, in the silver medal position this Yamazaki 1984, bottled in 2009 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Yamazaki, sold for £7,200. Another Japanese whisky to find a new owner at a hammer price of £2,000, was a Hibiki 21 Year Old, bottled to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Suntory.

Taking the lead in our rum category, this Foursquare 1998 10 Year Old, the inaugural release in the celebrated Exceptional Cask series, received a winning offer of £4,100.

A stunning set of Macallan Masters Of Photography, part of the series celebrating Peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino sold for £1,900, and a signed bottle of Macallan 10 Year Old Speaker Martin’s also sold, fetching £490.

Islay

Leading the way was a Bowmore 1964 38 Year Old Bourbon Cask, allowed to mature for decades in Bowmore’s famous Number One Vault. One of only 300 bottles, this was a chance for the winning bidder to get their hands on a rare whisky from Islay’s golden era, which was won for a handsome £8,400.

Other Islay highlights included a Laphroaig 1996 Single Cask bottled at cask strength (£700), an early 1980s Laphroaig 10 Year Old (£650), and a Lagavulin 1997 (£400) bottled for Islay Jazz Festival in 2012 when these annual releases were still single casks.

A bottle of Caol Ila 24 Year Old released in 2021 to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of production at the iconic distillery fetched £280.

Speyside

Speyside had some strong representation from mature malts with a pair of deliciously dark Glenfarclas Family Casks. This Glenfarclas 1964 from cask 4730 saw one of the lengthiest bidding battles of the evening before ending on £3,200. An equally heavily sherried Glenfarclas 1963 Release X fetched £1,450.

This beautifully presented Glenfiddich Ultimate 38 Year Old, a Chinese market exclusive in a 24 carat gold decorated crystal decanter sold for £1,900, while thirty plus year old spirits from Glen Grant (1976 31 year old – £900) and Glen Mhor (1975 32 year old – £360) showcased what independent bottlers such as Duncan Taylor can offer.

Macallan lots in the auction were led by two Folio 4 bottles selling for £2,200-£2,400 and a 1965 17 Year Old Special Selection sold for £1,800.

Japanese Whisky

Japanese whiskies were a strong category as ever with plenty of interest shown in bottles such as this mysteriously plainly labelled Yamazaki Age Unknown, distilled in 1994 to celebrate the release of Master Blender Keizo Saji’s autobiography. After some late competitive bidding it ended on a hammer price of £4,100.

Likewise, this Yoichi 1988 20 Year Old continued beyond the close of the category before settling on £1,450.

Jamaica Charity Auction

In October 2025, Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica causing widespread damage to infrastructure, people’s homes and lives. This massively impacted many members of the rum community and their families based in Jamaica.

The July auction contained lots kindly donated by industry friends to help raise a total of £3608.70 for The Association of Jamaicans UK Trust (AOJUK) and their Hurricane Melissa Appeal.

Roundup

This Colonel E.H. Taylor Warehouse C Tornado Surviving bourbon is a liquid with a story. In 2006 a tornado swept through Kentucky, damaging two of Buffalo Trace’s warehouses in its path. Barrels were left exposed to the elements while repairs were made and this whiskey was bottled from one of these barrels. The bottle ended the auction on an impressive £4,000, a significant uptick in price from recent sales and the highest price achieved at auction since summer 2024.

A Remy Martin Louis XIII dating from the 1950s-60s in pristine condition with its original wicker basket and certificate, fetched £2,100.

Vintage liqueurs are proving popular with collectors and fans of vintage cocktails with more than just Chartreuse attracting attention in the category. Campari continued its resurgence in interest with multiple bottles dating from the 1960s fetching between £210-£230. Amaros also gathered interest with this 1940s Amaro Bairo and a 1950s Gamondi Super Amaro Liqueur selling for £210 each.

Finally, there was a new auction record achieved in our World Whisky category with this Penderyn 21 Year Old Special Edition, one of only 115 bottles, sold for £1,500.
