Bowmore 1967, 40 Year Old – Premier Range

A miniature bottle of Bowmore 40 Year Old. This was distilled on 20 October 1967, matured in bourbon casks, and bottled at cask strength on 5 June 2008 as part of the Premier Range series.

Bowmore started distilling in 1779, though there is no evidence of whisky production until John Simpson was granted a licence to distill in 1816. The distillery passed through several hands, and even supplied a cask to Windsor Castle, before it was purchased by perhaps its most famous owner, Stanley P Morrison, in 1963. Bowmore maintains its own floor maltings which supply 40% of its barley, and is known for its medium-peated character. The whisky is left to mature in the No.1 Vaults, which is said to inhabit a unique microclimate, perfect for long periods of maturation.

Dalmore The 50 & Richard Paterson Nosing Glass, 50 Year Old – Trade Sample

A 0.7cl sample of The Dalmore 50 Year Old in a small glass vial. This comes with a nosing glass celebrating Richard Paterson’s 50 years in the whisky industry.

This is a trade sample and the bottle was never sealed with plastic.

Dalmore distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, and was taken over by the Mackenzie family in 1878. The distillery remained family-owned until 1960, when one of Dalmore’s biggest customers, Whyte & Mackay, took control of the distillery. Always a significant contributor to blends, the 12 year old expression was one of the few single malt bottlings from Dalmore. In recent times, the core range has expanded and luxury expressions such as the Constellation collection (21 vintage malts from 1964 to 1992) were released.
