Hanyu 1986 Two of Hearts

This Japanese whisky comes from the now sadly defunct Hanyu distillery, which stopped distilling in 2000 and was dismantled in 2004. At the time Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founders of Hanyu distillery, decided to purchase the remaining stock and bottle it as the Cards series – a set of limited-edition bottlings, each named after one of the cards in a standard deck.

Winning bid £2,300

Caroni Navy Rum Extra Strong 90 Proof

An extremely rare version bottle of Caroni Extra Strong rum, from a now sadly closed distillery, bottled at a strength of 51.4% ABV.

Winning bid £1,550

Ardbeg 1975 Cask #4699

A bottle of 1975 Ardbeg drawn from cask 4699, this rare whisky was bottled in February 2006 after spending its entire maturation period in a single bourbon cask.

Flagon of Imperial Royal Navy Rum Bottled 1953

A rare flagon of Imperial Royal Navy Rum bottled in 1953 at 54.3% ABV, which we estimate was distilled in the 1940s.

Marc De Bourgogne 1949 Domaine De La Romanee-Conti

A 1949 vintage bottle of Marc de Bourgogne from world famous wine house Domaine De La Romanée-Conti, bottled sometime in the 1970s at 41% ABV.

Winning bid £850

Kagoshima 1984 25 Year Old Sherry Cask

A 1984 Kagoshima, this was aged for 25 years in sherry casks. Five remaining casks from the distillery were vatted together, then aged for an additional five years before bottling in the late 2000s. The distillery only produced whisky for 32 years and ceased whisky production in 1984 but, before then, it had made a malt whisky by the brand name of Satsuma Whisky in a city known as ‘The Naples of the East’. The liquid in this bottle would have been some of the last to have been distilled in what was Japan’s southern most distillery.

Winning bid £675

Bowmore 1971 18 Year Old Sestante

A rare 1971 sherry-cask Bowmore, bottled in the late 1980s by Sestante, an Italian independent bottler.

Winning bid £700
