How We Auction Your Bottle

Selling whisky with us is simple.

How We Auction Your Bottle

Auctioning your bottles does not have to be stressful. Once your bottles arrive at our offices we do the rest of the work for you. Here we take you through the journey of your bottle once it arrives with us through to it being sent on its way to its new home.

We sell your old and rare whisky, whiskey, rum, Cognac, gin and all spirits. We also specialise in selling miniatures, whisky books, whisky water jugs and whisky mirrors.

If you want to sell wine, port or sherry please request a valuation first so we can let you know which bottles we can auction. The same goes if you wish to sell vintage Champagne, but we do not normally sell beer or cider.

Step

From the moment you begin to consider selling your whisky at auction. Contact us to get the best advice early.

Step

Selling with us is really simple, just register free and either post your bottle to our London office or drop it off in person.

We’re here from Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 5.30pm to receive your bottles.

Remember, we only accept bottles with their original closures intact.

Step

We recommend packaging in plenty of bubble wrap and polystyrene in a sturdy cardboard box and to use your preferred courier.

Step

Once your bottle arrives with us, it is carefully unpacked by our team and the condition is checked. The bottle is then added to your account and we email you to confirm receipt.

Step

We create a catalogue your bottle for the auction. The listing is created for your bottle where all of its details are noted. A description is written and the bottle is dated as accurately as possible by our experienced team. We note any wear and tear, marks or damage to the bottle.

Step

Our photographer specialises in bottle shots and all photography is done to the exact same high specs. High resolution photographs are taken by our photography team to show your bottle in its best light.

Step

Each bottle is electronically tagged with its own location and remains there until the auction ends.

Your bottles are available to view on your account page on our website at every stage. You can log in then click on the ‘My Items Accepted’ tab to see a previews of your bottle’s listing.

Before the auction goes live, we add bottles to the preview daily to give buyers a taste of what will be available in the upcoming auction.

Don’t panic if your bottle is not on the preview straight away, or not all of your bottles appear at the same time. We sometimes like to add bottles over a few days to allow bidders to start building their watch lists.

We go live! Your bottle is now available to bid on for 10 days. The majority of the bidding tends to take place in the last few days of the auction and we often see the most movement in the final few hours.

It’s interesting to note how many ‘watchers’ your bottle has as this can give a good idea of the level of interest in it. A lot of watchers is a good sign there will be plenty of bidding to come.

Step

As soon as the winning bidder pays the bottle is packed by one of our highly trained packers.

Step

We make sure that every order is ready to be dispatched that same day.

Step

The winning bidder may have been searching a long time for the bottle you’re selling. We make sure it’s delivered fast.
