The Macallan distillery has taken vintage and luxury whisky to new heights in 2020 with the release of The Red Collection. Comprising six bottlings including the oldest ongoing expressions, and the oldest ever bottled, this series became an instant ‘must have’ amongst whisky investors and those looking to add to their impressive collections. The colour Red is significant to The Macallan for a number of reasons. From the surname of its founder, Alexander Reid, ‘the red one’, and the colour used for the ribbons on The Macallan Handwritten Labels, it makes sense that this new collection encapsulates and builds on the already impressive history.
The series is made up of six bottles, all of which were bottled by the distillery in 2020:
The Macallan 40 Year Old The Red Collection 48.1% ABV

The Macallan 60 Year Old The Red Collection 43.4% ABV
Matured in a combination of sherry seasoned and refill casks this expression imparts sweet fruit notes of mango and papaya, while hints of dark chocolate and lime create a complex finish.’ Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker
The Macallan 71 Year Old The Red Collection 41.6% ABV

The Macallan 74 Year Old The Red Collection 42.6% ABV

The Macallan 78 Year Old The Red Collection 42.2% ABV
